Our Endless Pursuit
In 1893, Kokichi Mikimoto, the founder of MIKIMOTO, became the first person in the world to successfully create cultured pearls. MIKIMOTO then went on to pursue the true beauty of pearls, finally establishing the "MIKIMOTO style", a fusion of European craftsmanship and design with a unique Japanese sensibility, effectively ushering in modern jewellery-making in Japan. Reflecting the founder's vision - to enhance the beauty of women around the world - MIKIMOTO continues to pursue eternal beauty by combining strictly selected materials with its outstanding jewellery-making technique and delicate and intricate designs. This brooch can also be used as an obidome [ornament worn on the kimono sash] and features the crane, an auspicious symbol since ancient times, and encapsulates the spirit of Japan.
